"According to Africa" begins with happy children singing and dancing with their families. AIDS attacks and kills the parents. As the plot unfolds, we meet Grace who raises hundreds of orphans. Grace adopts two orphans, Akiki and Mirembe. We meet the reporter, Maggie Dalene, and her news team, a college student on a mission trip, and a scientist doing a genetics study. All TWELVE of the main characters are involved in saving the children. Act one ends when rebels from the notorious Lord's Resistance Army abduct the orphans and Grace's son, Akiki.
Act two is devoted to saving the children and conquering evil with love. The main characters search for Akiki and seek to save all the abducted children. Maggie Dalene reports from the Rebel Rehabilitation Camp where the rebel soldiers are transformed back into children through incredible forgiveness and love. The reporter collects the testimonies of rebels, victims, and widows while the Archbishop of Uganda tries to negotiate a peace treaty with Joseph Kony, the leader of the LRA. The story becomes darker and darker. Akiki follows instructions to shoot Maggie Dalene, she survives. Through a clever plot twist, Joseph Kony agrees to set all the children free in exchange for Grace. Grace becomes God’s Grace as she dies and rises with Jesus to save all the children. In the end, the children with Jesus and God’s Grace conquer evil and Joseph Kony.
